The E-Ticket, TCU’s new digital system of administering tickets, is the latest improvement the university’s athletic program has made as it enters its inaugural year in the Big 12.
The E-Ticket is an improvement over the old ticket system, as the E-Ticket allows season ticket holders to print their tickets from home or transfer their tickets electronically, assistant athletics director for tickets Sean Conner said. These changes will cut down on will-call lines and should increase attendance at games.
By changing to a system where tickets can be transferred electronically, season ticket holders who are unable to attend a game can easily share their tickets with a friend or family member, Conner said.
“Hopefully people will tend to actually utilize the tickets more because it’s less hassle,” Conner said.
Single game tickets cannot be transferred, but can be printed at home, which will allow ticket holders to avoid lines when they reach Amon G. Carter stadium.
The new features of the E-Ticket are possible now because of advancements in technology that come from the upgrade of Amon G. Carter, Conner said.
“With the previous configuration of Amon G. Carter, we were scanning tickets, we were scanning student IDs,” Conner said. “As we move into the new stadium this was an opportunity to roll out another new feature.”
Conner said the new E-Ticket system has been well received by fans and the transfer feature has already been utilized. Conner expects the improvements of the E-Ticket to become more noticeable once the start of the season nears.
The bar codes on these new tickets allow one scan per entry, a feature put in for fan security. Once scanned, that ticket cannot be used to reenter the stadium, Conner said.
For now the E-Ticket is only going to be used for football games, but Conner said the athletic department is working on employing the E-Ticket for other TCU sports in the future.
“We do plan on getting basketball and baseball, where we start scanning tickets at those,” Conner said. "We don’t know a date or when we’ll get that started, but we are in the works of trying to get those sports included as well.”
E-Ticket transfers can be made through a GoFrogs.com account.
