The TCU women’s soccer team returns to the field this Friday to take on the Houston Baptist Huskies.
Heading into the game, Eric Bell, the head coach, said the team is focusing on itself and not so much on Houston Baptist or any of their opponents.
If the Frogs want to win the upcoming game, Bell said he believes they need capitalize on goal opportunities.
“I think we let some scoring opportunities go by the way side because we weren’t focused enough to put the ball in the back of the net,” Bell said.
Junior goalkeeper Vittoria Arnold said she needed to step up as a leader in order for the team to win Friday night. She said keeping the team’s priorities straight and treating practices like they are real games was important to her.
Bell said the team’s mentality would be to do whatever it takes to score.
After a win of Texas State University on Sunday giving them a record of 3-3-1, Bell said if the Frogs to continue its winning streak, they need the efforts of the entire team.
“We need to value the ball when we keep the ball and not just run out of ideas and kick it to the other team,” he said.
Arnold said the team needs to stay tight on defense and keep the Huskies under control to make goals as difficult as possible for them.
“…If we come out with the right mentality like we should or as we expect to win then there’s no opponent who can really withstand us,” Arnold said.
Game time is 7 p.m. on Friday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
