Each Wednesday, students in the Wesley Foundation meet to share their faith and become empowered by the ministry's principles of fellowship and community.
The Rev. Megan Davidson, campus minister for TCU Wesley, said Wesley Foundations have been on college campuses for more than 100 years. The university's Wesley Foundation was instated in the 1940s.
“Wesley Wednesdays has developed into a intimate community with a lot of good food and good people to grow together in Christ and provide people with a home away from home,” said Alex Pierce, a former student and current intern with TCU Wesley.
“I think it is really a family here, as soon as I came everybody was so friendly and so inviting, I really feel like I am a part of a special group,” said Sydney Despain, first year Neuroscience major.
“Our main focus is to help students grow in their faith during college here at TCU, Wesley Wednesday is one of the major ways we try to do this,” Davidson said.
Wesley Wednesday takes place every week from 7 to 9 p.m. The meetings begin with a free meal and end with worship and small group Bible studies.
“Wesley Wednesday is not just gathering for a worship experience, our major goal is congregating to get to know each other and develop a relationship as a community,” Davidson said.
TCU Wesley is the only religious organization that has their own building for their worship services and other events, said Richard Thomas, TCU grad student and Wesley intern.
The building is located behind the library at 2750 W. Lowden St.
