The TCU defense ranks No. 1 nationally in scoring defense, allowing 4.3 points per game. The Frogs’ leading receiver Brandon Carter is coming off another 100-yard receiving game. He had 128 yards and a touchdown against Virginia.

Here are three players to watch Saturday night when the Horned Frogs travel to SMU:

Elisha Olabode, safety, junior

Olabode, along with linebacker Joel Hasley, led the Frogs in tackles against Virginia with eight. Olabode forced a fumble early in the second quarter that set up a TCU touchdown. The Cedar Hill native broke-up two passes against the Cavaliers. Olabode also has an interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery this season. 

Chris Hackett, safety, redshirt freshman

TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson said Hackett would make his first collegiate start against SMU. The Tyler native recorded two tackles and a key pass break-up at the goal line against Virginia, and made two tackles against Grambling State. As a senior in high school, Rivals.com ranked Hackett as the No. 2 safety in Texas and No. 38 in the nation. He had 62 tackles and 12 interceptions and earned East Texas Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Brandon Carter, wide receiver, sophomore

Carter posted his second straight 100-yard receiving game last week. The Euless native opened the scoring against Virginia with a 68-yard catch and run. Last year against SMU, Carter had five receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.  He also dropped a potential first down pass on the final play in overtime that ended the Frogs’ comeback.
