Oklahoma State scored 27 second half points and held the Frogs scoreless in the second half to pull out a 36-14 win at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys (5-2, 2-2) recovered a fumble with 7:40 left in the game to stop the Horned Frogs (5-3, 2-3).

Oklahoma State’s Wes Lunt completed 18 passes for 324 yards and Trevone Boykin hit 21 passes for 185 yards.

Road record on the season
TCU suffered its first road loss of the season against Oklahoma State. The Frogs were 3-0 on the road, including 2-0 in Big 12 road games. They were also 2-0 in games after a loss.

Second effort pays off for OSU
The Cowboys took their first lead of the night on a fourth-and-goal from the one with 7:29 left in the third quarter. OSU used 10 plays and four minutes and 16 seconds to move the ball 64 yards for the score. Lunt went 3-for-3 for 40 yards on the drive. The TCU defense stopped running back Randle Joseph at the one-yard line on first, second and third down, but a fourth down carry by running back Jeremy Smith gave the Cowboys their first lead of the game.  

Cowboys’ defense holds Frogs
After giving up 176 yards and a touchdown in the first half, the Cowboys’ defense held TCU to 80 yards and zero points in the third quarter. After the Cowboys took a 16-14 lead with 7:29 left in the third quarter, the Frogs moved the ball 61 yards to the Cowboys’ 14-yard line. It was TCU’s first red zone trip since the 3:22 mark in the first quarter. TCU failed to reach the end zone and placekicker Jaden Oberkrom’s field goal went wide right.

Hold them to field goals
All season long head coach Gary Patterson has said the Frogs need to hold their opponents to field goals. TCU did that in the first half on all three OSU scoring drives. The Cowboys used one long pass play on each drive to get in TCU territory. The passes went for 41, 35 and 30 yards respectively. The 35-yard pass was extended an additional 15 yards on a roughing the passer call against linebacker Joel Hasley.
