Tears were in the eyes of the seniors for Paschal as they played their last game for the Panthers.
“[The seniors] are my family,” senior wide receiver and defensive back Alfredo Retana said.
Paschal lost its 21st consecutive district game Thursday to end the 2012 season. The Arlington Lamar Vikings defeated the Panthers 61-28, clinching a playoff berth with their victory.
Paschal finished the season with a 2-8 record, losing their final seven games.
Lamar’s first drive ended in a missed 35-yard field goal by junior kicker Ryan Jacobs.
The Vikings’ second drive gave them the first score of the game on a 31-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Charlie Baird to senior wide receiver Kavonta Mayweather.
Lamar extended its lead early in the second quarter, with junior running back Cameron Smith scoring on a 24-yard touchdown run.

Baird and Mayweather hooked up again on a 13-yard touchdown pass on the Vikings next drive. That score gave Lamar a 27-6 lead.
The Panthers cut into that lead on their next possession. Junior quarterback Gibson Duwe threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Ben Noel. Duwe completed 12 out of 25 passes for 196 yards. Noel had nine catches for 165 yards.
Lamar answered with an 8-yard touchdown run by senior running back Aaron Daniels to give the Vikings a 34-13 lead late in the second quarter.
Retana intercepted Baird in the end zone to end the Vikings’ next possession. In the first half, Retana had a touchdown run, a completed pass, five catches for 72 yards, and an interception.
Panther head coach Matt Cook said Paschal could have won a few more games if Retana had not been injured for all but two games this season.
The Vikings scored right before halftime to take a 41-13 lead at intermission. A 6-yard touchdown pass from Baird to senior wide receiver Kyle Mullins extended the Vikings’ lead. Baird completed 20 of 21 passes for three touchdowns in the first half.
