TCU has accepted an invitation to play in the 2012 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Ariz.
The Frogs will face the Michigan State Spartans on Dec. 29 at Sun Devil Stadium.
“Getting back to that area is something we want to do again,” head coach Gary Patterson said.
Michigan State finished 6-6 in the Big Ten, including a 3-5 record in the Legends Division. The Spartans regular season ended Nov. 24 when they beat Minnesota 26-10.
Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio said he and his team look at their season as “half full not half empty.”
Patterson said he was already watching Spartans’ film and would not discount the month of preparation Michigan State has.
Dantonio said he and his team would use the time before the game to reflect on their season and prepare for the Horned Frogs.
“We have our hands full,” Patterson said. “We’re going to have to physically get ready for this ballgame.”
TCU (7-5, 4-5 Big 12) ended its inaugural Big 12 season at No.4 in the conference after falling to Oklahoma 24-17 on Saturday.
The Frogs and Spartans have played once before in 1953 with the Spartans pulling out a 26-19 victory.
TCU will play in a bowl game for its eighth straight year and the 29th time in school history. Michigan State earned its sixth straight bowl game invitation and 23rd overall.
According to TCU Ticket Office’s Twitter, students can buy up to four tickets for $65 each. TCU is allotted 11,000 tickets. Student section tickets are in section 12 and 13 of the Sun Devil Stadium.
Both teams will make their first trip to the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, previously named the Insight.com Bowl, in December. Kickoff is set for 9:15 p.m. on ESPN.
