Wednesday was TCU Day at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. The event, Let’s Rodeo Purple, brought students, alumni and fans together. 

TCU Rangers, Showgirls, Frog Corps, cheerleaders and the Horned Frog Marching Band performed at the evening event.

“When we were done singing, members in the audience were saying ‘Go Frogs,’ and it made me proud to see that they supported us,” said Jackson Grosskopf, sophomore kinesiology major and member of Frog Corps.

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s one of our best rodeos. The crowd has so much fun,” said Brad Barnes, president and general manager of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.

Barnes and rodeo participants traded in their usual attire for purple clothing.

Students in the crowd cheered as the show progressed.

“This was my first rodeo, and I loved experiencing it on TCU night with my fellow Horned Frogs,” said Devon Greenlee, communication studies and social work double major. “I love how much Fort Worth and the community supports TCU and all of the students.”

Among the crowd was the Chairman and CEO of Justin Brands, Randy Watson. Justin Brands is a company that has contributed to both TCU and the Stock Show.

“It’s really neat,” Watson said. “TCU day at the Stock Show is the perfect combination of TCU and the rodeo.”

The idea for TCU day came from Adam Waldeck, Neeley School of Business graduate and Stock Show director. Waldeck proposed the idea a few years ago and then approached Chancellor Victor Boschini about it. Barnes said Boschini loved the idea and fully supported it.
