Attendees of the 14th annual TCU Investment Strategies Conference said they were excited to hear former president George W. Bush speak.

While walking from the first portion of the conference in the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center over to the Brown-Lupton University Union for the luncheon and Bush’s speech, one conference attendee said he hoped Bush would discuss the lessons learned in his presidency. 

“I’m excited to hear him talk,” said Amit Lalvani, a graduate student at TCU. “I think he’s going to talk about the decisions he made post 9/11. I didn’t agree with a lot of his decisions, but I think it will be nice to get his view and get some inside information on why he made those decisions.”

The conference is good exposure for business students, said junior Larry Perrin.

“It says a lot about what Neeley is doing, moving forward, and how it is moving up in the ranks of business schools around the country” he said.

Students on campus said they ran into the former president.

“We saw some people in suits, we were joking ‘is that Secret Service, who are these people?'” said sophomore Chandler Lotridge. Turns out, it was — along with Bush.

“He just asked us how we were doing and walked in the building,” she said.
