TCU students are heading to Peru for Spring break.

TCU’s director for student organizations Ebony Rose said she hopes students will learn how to really engage in their communities during their Global Leadership trip.

Rose will accompany 25 TCU students to Peru where they will engage in many activities centered around growing as a leader and community leader.

“For this particular trip, I think our main goal is really giving students an understanding of what it means to be an active citizen in your community,” said Rose.

To accomplish this, Rose said the students will be given opportunities to work with non-profit educational organizations in Lima, to meet with prominent civic leaders in Peru, and to visit the U.S. Embassy.

The students will also be working with MEDLIFE, a non-profit organization that aids impoverished communities to build homes for the people of Peru.

In addition to leadership development, Rose said she wants students to understand life as a Peruvian citizen.

“We’re really trying to get a vast understanding of what it’s like to be apart of the society of Peru,” said Rose.

The Global Leadership trip is scheduled every year through the TCU leadership Center. In past years, students have had the chance to go to Canada and Scotland.

The group of students will leave for Peru Friday, March 3 and arrive back in Fort Worth Thursday, March 10.
