Radio sports show to broadcast live from campus

The men of the Dallas-based BaD Radio sports show, station 1310 AM the Ticket, will broadcast live from the porch of the Sigma Chi fraternity house on Friday to celebrate the football team’s success, production director Melissa Weishaupt said.

“Ask Sports Sturm at 12:50, we get college crazy with the frat guys and sorority girls of TCU,” the show’s Web site reads.

The broadcast will feature The Bob and Dan Show, starring Bob Sturm, Dan McDowell and Donovan Lewis and will be from 12- 3:00 p.m., said producer and radio personality Tom Gribble, also known as the 1920s reporter guy.

Gribble said the station wants to experience and get a feel for the College GameDay atmosphere, especially because of the excitement surrounding Saturday’s game.

“We’re going to do a regular show, normal Cowboys and Packers coverage, but we’re going to have fun with the frat brothers there and do a kind of college pre-game show for TCU,” Gribble said, noting that station staff members are excited for the opportunity to broadcast from the university.

“We always have a great time out there and love interviewing the frat guys and sorority girls,” he said.

Sigma Chi President Tyler Talman coordinated the show coming to Worth Hills by e-mailing Weishaupt.

“They wanted the opportunity to be on campus and be in the Worth Hills area, have GameDay signs and barbecue and be interactive with us and have fun for three hours,” Talman said.

Many other fraternities chipped in to help pay for the festivities, Talman said. Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Phi, Delta Tau Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon have all contributed funds for the event, Talman said.

Gribble said it is enjoyable watching students grilling and reveling in the atmosphere of anticipation for the game. People have already prepared signs to bring to the fraternity house that they plan on displaying during ESPNCollege GameDay’s broadcast, he said.
