After loss in San Diego, women’s basketball team ready to face UNLV

After suffering a tough loss on the road to San Diego State University, TCU women’s basketball will return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and try to continue their home-court success tonight against UNLV.

Last week, the SDSU Aztecs took control of the game with an intense pace from the start, leading to an uphill battle for the Lady Frogs. Falling 84-61, the loss snapped a four-game winning streak. As a result, TCU has dropped out of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

The Lady Frogs’ next conference opponent, UNLV, poses a new threat at the DMC. The teams last met in January and the game ended with TCU winning 81-61 on the road. Trailing by seven points at the half, TCU used aggressive performances on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court in the second half for the victory.

To TCU’s advantage, UNLV is struggling, holding a 12-15 record with a 5-8 mark in conference. With 20 consecutive wins in the DMC, the team is looking to add another to its longest home victory streak in team history.

TCU is now tied with Brigham Young University for the lead in the MWC with a 9-3 record. Out of the four teams not far behind TCU, Utah poses the biggest threat with a 7-5 mark in conference play with four games left to go.
