After defeating SMU 87-73 in double overtime Wednesday night, the women’s basketball team will travel to San Antonio to face the UTSA Roadrunners tonight for its first road contest of the season.

Head coach Jeff Mittie stressed that the upcoming opponent will definitely offer a test for the squad.

“[UTSA] is a team that is predicted to win their side of the division,” he said. “They made an NCAA tournament run a couple years ago.”

UTSA junior guard and forward Ashley Gardner has proven to be a force on the court. Gardner led the team with 16 points in her last game.

Roadrunners senior guard Alysse Davis led her team to an 87-47 win against Huston-Tillotson on Sunday. Davis posted 15 points and 14 rebounds and was just shy of a triple-double with eight blocks.

Mittie said TCU sophomore forwards Starr Crawford and Delisa Gross will work on shutting down Davis’ success in the paint. He emphasized the importance of not becoming mentally fatigued before hitting the road.

“It’s a quick turnaround,” Mittie said. “We just need to rest up and focus.”
