TCU junior Edgar Crespo set a TCU record in the 200-breaststroke Saturday at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship inside the University of Minnesota’s University Aquatics Center.

Crespo clocked a 1:57.91 in the 200-breast to place 30th overall in his first time to compete in the event at the NCAA meet. His time of 1:58.60 at this season’s Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships was the previous TCU all-time mark.

The Panama City, Panama, native is the TCU record holder in the 100- and 200-breast with a TCU benchmark time of 53.32 in the 100-breast. Crespo finished 20th at the NCAA Championship yesterday in the 100-breast.

Crespo was TCU’s lone competitor at the NCAA Championship for the second-straight year as the Frogs were one of just four MWC teams to send competitors to the national meet.

Individually this season, Crespo led TCU in wins during dual events with nine and was undefeated in the 100-breaststroke with five wins. In the 200-breaststroke, he notched four individual wins.
