Throughout the season, the TCU baseball team has gone through tough losses. It was difficult to stomach TCU’s first loss of the season, against the Kansas Jayhawks in the third game of the season.

It was equally difficult to watch TCU lose to the New Mexico Lobos twice during conference tournament play. After many such losses, Frog fans have found themselves wondering when this talented incarnation of the TCU squad would figure it all out and learn how to hit consistently and close out games.

For the first time all season, however, the Frogs face a true test of determination and grit. Beginning at 2 p.m., TCU faces three straight elimination games.

The first is a rematch against Oral Roberts University, who is fresh off a stunning 7-0 victory over Oklahoma University. TCU has already beaten Oral Roberts twice this season, once in TCU’s final home game of the season and once two days ago in tournament play when TCU’s Andrew Mitchell dominated the ORU lineup en route to a 10-2 victory. However, this time out it is not Mitchell that will be gifted the start. Instead, Kyle Winkler, who has been in and out of the lineup, will be starting the game for TCU.

TCU started off their Regional experience with hot bats, scoring multiple runs in three different innings against Oral Roberts. That effort, combined with a shutout performance from Mitchell, allowed TCU to remain in the winner’s bracket. However, the Frogs had great difficulty hitting Jared Stafford of DBU and fell 3-2 in a tense game on Saturday night.

Today, TCU hopes that its standouts at the plate can roar to life once more and eliminate the Golden Eagles from postseason play.

The winner of the TCU-Oral Roberts contest will play against Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m. Sunday as well. Game time for TCU’s first contest is at 2 p.m..

All games will be played at Lupton Stadium and will be available on ESPN 3.
