New stadium means new experience

Associate Athletics Director for Operations Ross Bailey said he expected spectators to notice the changes in Amon G. Carter tomorrow.

The stadium will have a different look compared to previous seasons. There is a new sound system, two new video boards, a new entry for the football team and concession stand, Bailey said.

Gate 9 is still the primary gate for fans to get into the football game. The gate is on the southeast corner of the stadium near the coliseum. Entrance is also allowed at Gate 1 near Worth Hills.

Students will need their ID to gain access to the game.

The upper levels will not be open to the public this season, Bailey said.

“People will continue to see progress throughout the year,” Bailey said.

According to TCU’s stadium website, there will be sound tests done today and tomorrow before the game. “Crews will test the sound system each Friday and Saturday morning prior to a home game.”

Update:
Fans had the chance to watch TCU win against Louisiana-Monroe Saturday at TCU’s first home game of the season. There were some of unforeseen setbacks before the game began.

Entry was faster at one gate and slower at the other, Bailey said.

The ticket scan system froze a few times because there were more in use compared to when they were tested, Bailey said.

Some fans wanted more restrooms and concessions but the majority were happy with the stadium’s progress, Bailey said.

Friday’s rain caused unexpected difficulties for TCU’s stadium employees.

“There were a lot of people who got to bed really late last night and got out of bed really early this morning to make everything happen. It was a great team effort.”
