Redshirt freshman quarterback Trevone Boykin is scheduled to start in place of Casey Pachall Saturday.  He has not played against a Big 12 opponent this season.

Trevone Boykin, quarterback, freshman

Trevone Boykin is scheduled to get his first collegiate start against Iowa State. Boykin has seen action in three games this season. The dual-threat quarterback did not play in the Frogs Big 12 opener at Kansas. Boykin’s best performance of the season came against Grambling in the season opener, when he completed all eight of his passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed five times for 57 yards and a score.

LaDarius Brown (freshman) and Skye Dawson (senior), wide receivers

Slot receivers LaDarius Brown and Skye Dawson are facing two pre-season All-Big 12 linebackers in A.J. Klein and Jake Knott. Brown and Dawson have combined for 17 receptions on the season. Brown has two touchdowns and 105 yards. Dawson, who sat out the Grambling game, racked up 123 yards in three games.  Especially with a change at quarterback, the Frogs may find trouble trying to throw over the middle.

Devonte Fields, defensive end, freshman

Devonte Fields recorded a team-high seven tackles against SMU. Four of those tackles were behind the line of scrimmage. The Arlington native had 10 tackles over three games entering last week. Fields leads the team with eight and a half tackles for loss this season. He has recorded a sack in every game thus far in 2012.
