Mens golf starts final tournament in California

The university men’s golf team finishes off its weeklong west coast trip with the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., Friday through Sunday.

The No. 13 Frogs will be the top ranked squad in the 17-team field.

Three 18-hole rounds will be played over the three-day tournament weekend. The Classic Club is a par 72 course that measures 7,305 yards. The course is the former host of the PGA Tour event, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

The Horned Frogs will have the same five-man lineup from the previous three spring tournaments: freshman Paul Barjon, sophomore Julien Brun and seniors Daniel Jennevret, Eli Cole and Pontus Gad.

The team looks to continue its strong start to the spring season that has seen them earn top-3 finishes in two of three events.

The group regrouped from a poor second-round showing earlier this week at The Prestige at PGA WEST tournament. The Frogs finished in the middle of the pack at seventh place in the team standings.

Sophomore Julien Brun was the squad's top individual finisher for the second time this spring, tying for seventh place on the final leader board.

The Frogs return to Fort Worth after the Wyoming Desert Collegiate Tournament for a two-week break from competition. They will return to season play March 9 again on the west coast.
