Men’s basketball to face No. 15 Oklahoma State

Mens basketball to face No. 15 Oklahoma State

The university men’s basketball team is looking for its second conference win as it faces its second ranked opponent in a week.

The No. 15 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys (20-6 overall, 10-4 Big 12) will try to complete the season sweep when they visit Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Wednesday. The Cowboys dropped the Frogs in Stillwater, Okla., 63-45 on Jan. 9.

The Frogs failed to sweep No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks, falling 74-48 in Lawrence. TCU (10-17 overall, 1-13 Big 12) was held to nine first-half points, a new low for points in a half. This broke the record the team set Feb. 11 against Oklahoma with 11 points.

Oklahoma State has won eight of its last nine games with a lone loss down the stretch against Kansas.

Markel Brown and Marcus Smart are leading the Cowboys, averaging over 15 points per game. Brown had 16 points in a 73-57 win over West Virginia Feb. 23.

TCU guard Kyan Anderson has scored in double digits for the past five games. He leads the Frogs with 11.2 points per game that ranks No. 18 in the Big 12. Brown and Smart rank No. 2 and No. 4, respectively.

Anderson also sits in the top 10 in terms of minutes played (33.07 per game, No. 5), steals (1.52 per game, No. 6) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.17, No. 9).

Both Oklahoma State and TCU hold opponents under 62 points per game. However, the Cowboys put up 72 points per game while the Frogs hold 53 points per game.

The last time the Frogs faced a ranked opponent in the DMC, they shocked No. 5 Kansas 62-55. The Frogs will try to pull off another upset over a ranked team when they face Oklahoma State Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Garlon Green moving up on career games played list

Senior forward Garlon Green can move into a tie for first place on the TCU career games played list Wednesday. Former Frog forward Femi Ibikunle holds the record at 125 games, playing from 2004 to 2007. Green, who has played in 105 consecutive games for TCU, needs an appearance against the Cowboys to tie the record.
