TCU had no answer for Le’Bryan Nash.

The Oklahoma State guard scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed six rebounds as the No. 15 team in the nation took down TCU 64-47.

“[Nash is] bigger, he’s stronger, he’s quicker and he’s got more of a skill set than anybody we have,” TCU head coach Trent Johnson said. “They do a good job of putting him in spots where he can score, but more importantly they’re such an unselfish team.”

The Cowboys got points from nine of the 11 players who stepped on the court and had 12 assists on 27 shots. Oklahoma State also shot 55.1 percent from the floor and outscored TCU 36-12 in the paint.

“I told [the team] they were gonna come out and be strong and physical with us and come out to try and beat us in the paint,” TCU guard Kyan Anderson said. “Nash did a good job in getting there and getting to where he wanted and scoring.”

Anderson, who led the Frogs with 15 points, hit five straight points late in the first half to cut the Cowboys’ lead to 20-17 with 8:06 left. Oklahoma State responded with a 17-7 run to close out the half.

Nash opened up the second half with six straight points to extend the lead to 44-24. The Frogs’ first points came on an Anderson 3-pointer almost six minutes into the half.

Anderson said the team’s inability to get defensive stops in addition to pulling away from what was working on offense contributed to the Cowboys getting a 20 point lead.

“Sometimes we tend to get away from what coach is saying and try to run off and do our own thing,” Anderson said. “That’s not always good especially early.”

TCU cut the lead to 50-36 with 9 minutes left in the game, but was unable to get any closer. Nash hit a jumper on the Cowboys’ next possession to put the lead back to 16. Oklahoma State and TCU traded points for the rest of the game.

Oklahoma State forced the Frogs into 27.3 percent shooting from the floor (15-of-55). The Frogs did shoot 72.2 percent from the free throw line, but Johnson didn’t find that stat reassuring.

“Playing well for 40 minutes and winning the game is encouraging for me right now,” Johnson said. “That’s where I’m at.”
