TCU men’s tennis will honor three seniors on Senior Day and will close its regular season home schedule with a match against Big 12 opponent Texas Tech on Friday.

Max Stevens, JT Sundling and Orlando Superlano will be recognized as they play their last match at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

“Our seniors have done an unbelievable job leading the team,” head coach David Roditi said. “I want to see all our fans at the match Friday to make their last home match a memorable and winning one.”

Both TCU and Texas Tech are vying for positions in next week’s Big 12 Tennis Championships. According to a press release, TCU is projected to earn the No. 4 seed in the event.

The two teams are closely ranked nationally with TCU at No. 37 and Texas Tech at No. 46. They also share comparable season statistics, with both teams at 1-2 in the Big 12. TCU holds a small lead at 16-7 on the season and Texas Tech sits at 15-8 overall.

The Frogs hold a 30-5 edge in the all-time series with Texas Tech, but Texas Tech has claimed the last four meetings.

Roditi said the team was preparing to handle long rallies and be aggressive to overcome the fast-paced style of Texas Tech’s play.

He also said that they were preparing to play opponents that they don’t know as well as they typically would because the majority of Texas Tech’s players are freshmen.

One of those Texas Tech freshmen is Felipe Soares, who is ranked No. 122 in singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. He will face off against TCU sophomore Nick Chappell.

Chappell and Will Stein are ranked at No. 63 in the ITA doubles rankings with a 14-5 record. Arnau Dachs and Superlano also have a winning 12-4 doubles record and have won two of their three conference matches.
