C.J Hinojosa proved to be the thorn in TCU’s side, as the Horned Frogs couldn’t pull off the sweep, falling to the Texas Longhorns 3-0.

Hinojosa, dating back to Friday’s game, reached base in eight straight at-bats and drove in two runs Saturday, leading the Longhorns to a victory.

That victory was also helped in large part by Texas pitcher Nathan Thornhill (3-6), who threw a shutout, holding the Frogs to six hits in a complete game effort.

Texas' offense did just as they did Friday, finding runs in the first inning, despite not having leading hitter Mark Payton in the lineup. Payton, who had started the previous 134 games for the Longhorns, did not play due to a wrist injury.

Brooks Marlow led off the first inning with a double for Texas, on one of the first of Trevor Seidenberger’s 27 pitches on the inning. C.J Hinojosa singled and drove in Marlow after a Boomer White fielding error, giving Texas a 1-0 lead.

Hinojosa was thrown out at third after trying to advance on a bad pickoff attempt, but Texas wasn’t ready to end the inning. Erich Weiss walked and promptly stole second, setting up a Jacob Felts RBI single, giving Texas a 2-0 lead.

The third inning saw a round of deja vu, as Brooks Marlow doubled again and C.J Hinojosa hit another RBI single to bring him in, putting Texas up 3-0. on Hinojosa’s seventh straight on-base at-bat.

It would be the end of Trevor Seidenberger (2-3) soon after, as he would be replaced by Stefan Crichton. Seidenberger went 2.1 innings, on 40 pitches, giving up five hits, three earned runs and a walk.

TCU ends the regular season with a 28-26 (12-12 in Big 12 play) record for the regular season. Next up will be the Big 12 Conference Tournament, where Preston Morrison will start against a team to be announced.

The Frogs will be seventh seed in the tournament, which will start play against the second-ranked seed in the tournament.

TCU enters the tournament with confidence in its step and a top goal in mind.

"We feel great," TCU third baseman Jantzen Witte said. "Right now, we feel confident and our pitching is lights out. Our hitting has come around and it's lightyears better than the start."

"We're going to win the tournament," TCU infielder Derek Odell said. "Then we're going to win the regional, then the Super Regional, then Omaha."

Odell started for the Horned Frogs and said he is back in full health. TCU reliever Trey Teakell said his oblique is healing and he should be ready for action by Wednesday.
