Coming off a 63-50 win over Texas State Saturday night, the TCU women’s basketball team will suit up on short rest to play Grambling State Monday night.
The Frogs (2-1) had their worst night offensively against the Bobcats, shooting under 30 percent from the field. However, defense and free throws secured a double-digit win. Now they must play the Tigers with limited practice time.
Grambling State (1-2) is coming off their first win of the season against the University of New Orleans, 76-52. Senior guard Joanna Miller led the team in scoring with 30 points.
GRAMBLING STATE LAST YEAR
The Tigers went 9-23 including a blowout loss to Big 12 opponent Kansas. They reached the second round of the SWAC conference tournament before losing to Texas Southern University.
MATCHUP TO WATCH
Zahna Medley led TCU in scoring with 21 points Saturday and will have to have a hotter hand than Grambling State’s Miller. The player to find her stroke early in the game could propel her team to victory.
THE X-FACTOR
Sophomore forward Caitlin Diaz grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds Saturday night, and her presence in the paint helped secure a defensive victory. If she can continue her dominance down low, the Tigers will have a hard time sustaining offense.
TIME AND PLACE
The game starts at 7 p.m. Monday in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
