TCU head coach Gary Patterson officially announced Tuesday afternoon that Kenny Perry is the team’s new cornerbacks coach, according to a press release.
“Kenny was an unbelievable addition to our program from a recruiting perspective and how well liked he is by our players,” Patterson said in the release.
Perry was given the position following former cornerbacks coach Clay Jennnings’ departure.
Jennings had been the team’s cornerbacks coach since January 2008 before accepting a defensive backs coaching position at the University of Arkansas.
A former defensive back for the Houston Cougars, Perry originally joined the TCU football staff in March 2013 as the team’s director of high school relations and recruiting.
Prior to coming to TCU, Perry served seven seasons as the head coach ofBowie High School in Arlington, Texas. While there, he coached current Horned Frogs Kolby Listenbee and Steve Wesley.
“Kenny was very successful as a high school coach,” Patterson said. “It’s a positive because there are so many good high school coaches in the state.”
Perry has 22 years of coaching experience in total. He was named the 2007 Dallas Morning News Coach of the Year and a six-time Coach of the Week selection by the Dallas Cowboys.
The Frogs began spring training on Saturday.
