SNL’s Fred Armisen to perform at TCU

The story has been revised to reflect the correct information about the performance. The story previously said there would be a live recording of the show, but the performance will only be open to live audiences.

Saturday Night Live performer Fred Armisen is scheduled to perform “Fred Armisen Live” with Seth Myers in front of a TCU student audience this Friday at 8 p.m. in the Brown-Lupton University Union Ballroom.

According to, Armisen has performed in works such as “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgondy,” “Portlandia” and “Easy A.” He has also been nominated for four Primetime Emmys.

The event is free and open to all TCU students.

“I love how we can see famous performers like Fred Armisen for free and within walking distance for most students,” said Nik Ax, second-year business major.

TheEnd is providing the event for students and has already hosted performances by Matt Kearney, Anjelah Johnson, Judah Friedlander and other celebrities this semester.

Senseless Acts of Comedy performed before SNL’s Vanessa Bayer earlier this semester. However, SAC is not scheduled to open for Armisen due to an earlier start time.

Ryan McDaniel, second-year psychology major, said he thinks it’s “a shame” SAC won’t be performing at such a big event.

“They have a great following and this event would have helped spread their name,” McDaniel said.

SAC was not informed until this week that it would not be involved in the show.

“I understand the production might have had to cut SAC due to time restraints, but they should have told the members they would not perform earlier,” McDaniel said.

Even without SAC, students are still excited for the performance.

“I think it will be a great time for the students and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next,” Ax said.
