Tooti's top picks for holiday fun Thanksgiving weekend

The 109’s top pick for entertainment this weekend is the 32nd annual XTO Energy Parade of Lights scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 28 in downtown Fort Worth.

The 40-minute parade will include many local personalities and icons, including TCU’s Super Frog, Eastern Hills High School Band, Silver Eagle Marching Band, Rahr & Sons Brewing Company and many others.

“We are excited to see our title sponsor, XTO Energy’s float, as well as the Downtown Fort Worth Inc. float, which carries Santa and Mrs. Claus,” said Claire Bloxom Armstrong, public relation and social media manager at Pavlov agency.

Second pick this weekend is Thanksgiving Weekend in the Stockyards which kicks off at 11: 45 a.m. Nov. 28 and will be held 11:45 – 4:15 daily through Nov. 30 at the Livestock Exchange Building, 131 E. Exchange Ave.

Scheduled activities include photos with Cowboy Santa Claus (bring your own camera) and face painting, said Sarah McClellan-Brandt, Stockyards Station director of marketing. Gunfight shows, a must when celebrating the holiday season western-style, will also be held.

“Gunfights are funny melodrama involving a sheriff and some criminals,” she said.

Pick No. 3 this week, The Gift of Lights at Texas Motor Speedway, can take place from the comfort of one’s own car.

The Gift of Lights is a 1.5 mile drive-through holiday lighting spectacular. It is open nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. through Jan. 1 and located at 3545 Lone Star Circle in Fort Worth, according to the event’s website.
