College students seem to have a reliance on caffeine to get them through lectures and late night study sessions, but there are healthier alternatives to power through the day.

Eight RadioShack locations on preliminary list of store closings

With RadioShack in bankruptcy, the ultimate fate of stores in the company’s hometown is still undetermined.
However, the Fort Worth-based company is already looking at closing several Fort Worth locations, many in the southwestern part of the city.
Eight Fort Worth locations are included on a preliminary list of potential store closures.

Locations in southwest Fort Worth on West Seventh Street, South Hulen Street, Camp Bowie Boulevard and Green Avenue are among those on the list. The location in Sundance Square is also on the list.
Five stores in the city limits are not on the list. Three of those locations are in northern Fort Worth. Two southern Fort Worth locations, one at La Gran Plaza and one on Alta Mesa Boulevard, are also off the list.
“We don’t have anything to share at this point regarding stores that may be on or off the list,” a RadioShack spokesperson told The 109.
The consumer electronics company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Thursday in Delaware, according to a company press release.
General Wireless Inc., an affiliate of hedge fund Standard General, will acquire anywhere from 1,500 to 2,400 of RadioShack’s American stores.
Sprint has agreed with General Wireless, in principle, to “establish a new dedicated mobility ‘store within a store’ retail presence in up to 1,750 of the acquired stores.” Both the Sprint and RadioShack names would be featured in these stores.
The remainder of the company’s roughly 4,000 American stores will not be as lucky.
“A list of the stores slated for closure will be posted in the near future,” according to the release. “Stores that are closing are expected to sell remaining inventory.”
All aspects of the agreements between RadioShack, Standard General and Sprint are up to court approval.
