The TCU men’s basketball team is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Texas Tech at the Wilkerson Greines Activity Center.

The Frogs will look for their third home win in a row at their adopted gymnasium for the 2014-15 season. TCU is 12-5 at Wilkerson-Greines this season.

TCU (16-11, 3-11 Big 12) is coming off an 81-72 road defeat at the hands of No. 8 Kansas on Saturday. Senior Trey Zeigler led the Frogs with 20 points in the loss.

TCU head coach Trent Johnson was pleased with his team’s performance.

“I can’t fault our effort. I can’t fault our execution, because they (Kansas) put it on you to be really good,” Johnson said.

Texas Tech enters Wednesday’s contest 12-16 overall with a 2-13 record in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders are fresh off a 79-75 overtime loss to Oklahoma in Lubbock on Saturday.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Red Raiders, who have yet to win on the road this season.

Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith liked what he saw from his group against Oklahoma.

“I’m really proud of how our kids competed today after the way we were manhandled in Norman,” Smith said. “I’m really pleased with our efforts and we showed a lot of toughness.”

TCU beat Tech 62-42 in the team’s first meeting this year. The Frogs controlled the contest from the opening tip, holding the Red Raiders to 23 percent shooting in the blowout win.

Texas Tech leads the all-time series 76-48, and the Red Raiders have won four of the last five in Fort Worth. The series with Tech is the seventh longest in program history for TCU.

The Frogs haven’t swept a season series from the Red Raiders since 1991 when both teams were members of the Southwest Conference.

Wednesday’s matchup, which tips at 7 p.m., also has Big 12 Tournament implications. A TCU win seals Tech’s fate as the 10-seed in the conference tournament.
