The long search for the new permanent superintendent for Fort Worth Independent School District is nearing its end.
The Fort Worth ISD Board of Education will name a sole finalist for the job of permanent superintendent during the meeting set for 5:30 p.m. today.
The process was supposed to conclude last March, when Santa Fe Public Schools Superintendent Joel D. Boyd was declared the final choice.  However, he withdrew as the sole finalist in March.  He would have been made a final job offer on March 7, 2015.
“While it was a difficult decision,” Boyd said.  “I respectfully withdraw my candidacy for the position of Superintendent of the Fort Worth Independent School District.”
Interim Superintendent Pat Linares has served as interim superintendent since June 2014, after Walter Dansby resigned.
According to FWISD, she made it clear from the beginning she was not interested in serving the position permanently.
The meeting will be open to the public.  According to the press release, it will also be televised live by EdTV, the District’s TV station, on Charter Cable Channel 192, AT&T U-Verse 99 and via live streaming video on the District website’s Video on Demand.
Trustees will vote on the new superintendent tonight.  However, under state law, 21 days need to pass before a contract is finalized.
