Runners and their dogs trotted for a cause on the Trinity Trails Oct.10 to benefit the Humane Society of North Texas in its first annual “Trick or Trot” run.
Since 1905, HSNT has served as a non-profit animal rescue organization that helps over 25,000 animals every year.
“The Humane Society of North Texas takes in any animal regardless of its condition,” HSNT volunteer Renee Eiband said. “It is a blessing to our community.”

Mariachi Chihuahuas
The mariachi band Chihuahuas took home first place.

The Halloween-themed run encouraged participants and their pups to dress up in costumes. The best dog costume was voted on and won goodies from Canine Connection and Three Dog Bakery.
“I wanted to do something with my dog because he has a lot of energy and needs to run to get all of that out,” Silva said.

The event was sponsored by ACME Brick and Whole Foods Market and included pet adoptions and free micro chipping.

Axel the "rufferee"
Attendee, Kara Silva, dressed her dog Axel up as a “rufferee”.

After participants finished the run, they were invited to “yappy hour” at Landmark Bar and Kitchen to enjoy treats for both owner and pooch.
“We had such a great turn out,” Eiband said. ”Hopefully next year will be even bigger.”
