TCU women’s indoor track and field will kick-off this semester at the Texas A&M Invitational this weekend.

Coming off winter break, the team has been practicing and preparing for the meet, according to the TCU track and field twitter.

Director of Track and Field Darryl Anderson said the team “got off to a good start” when they competed last month at the Reveille Invitational.

In the Reveille Invitational, the Frogs took home honors and placed in many events. This weekend, they will be competing on the same track and field.

Sophomore Briona Oliver placed second in the women’s long jump, when she recorded a mark of 5.68m. Junior Iphona-Clemence Paiement placed third with a time of 7.60 in the women’s 60-meter dash and junior Paola Miranda placed third in weight throw with a career-best mark of 17.68m.

Also having a strong start was senior Brianna McGhee. McGhee broke an 11 year-old TCU record in the 60 meter-hurdles. Her time of 8.26 earned her not only TCU honors, but one of Muscle Milk’s athlete of the week.

The Frogs will carry their strong start and practice into this weekend as they go against 10 other teams. They will face: Texas A&M University, Baylor University, Abilene Christian University, Brigham Young University, Oklahoma State University, University of South Carolina, Stephen F. Austin University, University of Texas, Texas State University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Finals begin on Friday at 1:30 pm and continue on Saturday at 2 pm.
