Students looking for internships or jobs might find one Wednesday at the Career and Intern Expo.

About 135 businesses and nonprofit organizations – from the Hershey Co. to the Peace Corps – are expected at the event which is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. in the University Recreation Center.

“There will be companies there that cross over majors and industries offering opportunities to talk and to learn just more about their company as well as discuss internships and full-time opportunities that they have available,” said Kim Satz, associate director of employer development for the Center for Career and Professional Development.

A list of all the companies expected to attend the event is available on the career center website.

Satz said students should use this as an opportunity to network.

“We encourage students to ask about other positions they may be interested in,” Satz said. “Businesses have a wide gamut so they may be attending the expo to promote certain positions.”

“I am looking forward to attending the expo,” said sophomore business major Garret West, “because it’s providing me with the opportunity to meet and network with companies that have the possibility of becoming my employers in the near future.”

Students are expected to wear professional dress and prepare a resume.

The career center encourages students to meet with their career consultant for resume consultations and preparation to meet future employers.

“The career expo is designed to allow only a limited opportunity for an exchange so you want to make sure that you present yourself in as strong of a light as you can within a couple of minutes,” Satz said.

Free headshots will be offered to students who are interested.
