The TCU women’s basketball team released its 11-game, non-conference schedule. It features six postseason teams from a season ago and seven home games and, according to head coach Raegan Pebley, it’s one of the more challenging schedules the team has seen recently.

“This non-conference schedule is one of the tougher ones top to bottom that we have played in quite some time,” Pebley said. “We will have the opportunity to really challenge ourselves early this season.”

The Horned Frogs will open play Saturday, Nov. 11 against Oral Roberts in Schollmaier Arena before playing SMU in Dallas Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The rest of the schedule is highlighted by a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Cal State Northridge and a home game against Alabama as a part of the Big 12/SEC challenge.

Pebley said she’s looking forward to seeing the Horned Frogs perform against a team like Alabama.

“Continuing the Big 12/SEC Challenge is a great opportunity for us to showcase two great women’s basketball conferences,” she said. “We are excited about our match-up against Alabama who is returning a very good team. I have great respect for Coach Kristy Curry and welcome her and her squad to TCU.”

The Frogs will return 10 players from its 2016-2017 team which went 12-18, while also adding Oregon transfer Jayde Woods, junior college transfer Dakota Vann and freshman Lauren Heard.

The team got its 2017-2018 season off to a great start, winning all four of its games on a trip to Australia earlier this month.
