Student organization hosts haunted house for Halloween

Though the “spookiest time of year” was during the school week, theCrew was able to bring the Halloween spirit to TCU with their own haunted house.

“We just want to make it a good night for [students and other participants] and a good study break for any tests coming up this week,” said Sophie Alford, first-year pre-major and member of theCrew.

This was the fourth haunted house that theCrew created, which was held at the Campus Commons. Despite other campus organizations hosting their own haunted houses, senior communication studies major and theCrew member Alyssa Sweeney said to “expect the unexpected” in their miniature Halloween maze.

“There’re some tosses and turns that you wouldn’t expect from an on-campus haunted house,” Sweeney said. “So, it’s exciting.”

Although the night was cold from the rain beforehand, theCrew expected a good amount of participants in their haunted house. One of those was first-year graphic design major Victoria Johnson.

“We were heading out from the BLUU and my friends and I thought we’d walk through on our way [back to our dorms],” Johnson said.

The haunted house wasn’t in her plans to do for Halloween, but Johnson said it was a fun activity for her and friends to attend.

“It was good,” Johnson said. “It was funny to listen to my friends scream.”

Nick Esposito, a first-year criminal justice major, said he wasn’t planning on going through the haunted house but his friends dragged him into going and placed him in front of the group. After coming out on the other side of the maze, Esposito said he enjoyed it.

“It was a lot of fun,” Esposito said. “I’m glad I came.”

If you want to be a part of the creation of these activities and events like these, you can join theCrew by going to their Monday meetings at 8 p.m. in the student activities pit on the first floor of Brown-Lupton University Union.
