TCU point guard Jaylen Fisher led the way Saturday, scoring a career-high 20 points, maintaining the Horned Frogs’ undefeated season and winning the Emerald Coast Classic championship with an 89-79 win over St. Bonaventure.

The Tennessee native’s previous high was 18 points, and Fisher was clutch from the free throw line, shooting 8-of-10. His eight makes were a career high.

Five players scored in double figures for the Horned Frogs. Adding to Fisher’s 20 were Kenrich Williams with 17 points, Kouat Noi with 14, Desmond Bane with 12, and Vladimir Brodziansky with 11.

Williams, who led TCU with 11 rebounds, was named the tournament’s most outstanding player. Bane joined Williams on the Emerald Coast Classic All-Tournament Team.

There was plenty of back-and-forth before TCU  eventually overpowered the scrappy Bonnies (3-2) at Northwest Florida State College.

Izaiah Brockington led the Bonnies with 20 points followed by Matt Mobley with 18, Courtney Stockard with 16 and Ladarien Griffin with 13.

The score was tied four times and the lead changed hands five times in the first seven minutes. The Horned Frogs then snapped a 12-12 tie on a pair of free throws by forward Ahmed Hamdy and maintained a lead that climbed as high as eight and dwindled as low as a point one before the first half ended concluded with TCU up three, 39-36.

It was much of the same in the second half. There were two ties and two lead changes in the first 3:24 of the half before TCU broke a 42-42 tie on a 3-pointer by Bane. The closest the St. Bonaventure could get was three points, while the Horned Frogs pushed their lead to as high as 11.

With the victory, the Horned Frogs pushed their winning season that dates back to last season to 11 straight in addition to their success tournament play. TCU has now won three out of the last four tournaments they’ve been involved in. In addition to the NIT, they won the Global Sports Classic in Las Vegas last year by knocking off UNLV and Washington. Their only tournament loss in that span came against Iowa State in the semifinal round of the Big 12 conference tournament last season. That was the TCU’s last defeat before launching their current winning streak that puts them in position to break into the Top-25 and.
