TCU beach volleyball lost all three matches to No. 7 Florida State, No. 8 South Carolina and No. 9 Georgia State on the first day of the FIU Surf N Turf Invitational Friday in South Beach.

In the matchup against South Carolina, TCU’s second time this season facing the Gamecocks, the duo of Jordan Westendorff and Brooke Sassin defeated South Carolina’s Jess Vastine and Franky Harrison 21-19, 21-19. Westendorf and Sassin’s win ended up being the only win the Horned Frogs received in the matchup as the Gamecocks ran away with a 4-1 decision.

Against Florida State, Haven Hill and Cassie House defeated Vanessa Freire and Sara Putt 21-16, 24-22, 15-10 for the Frogs’ only win against the Seminoles, falling in a 4-1 decision.

In a tight battle against Georgia State, Westendorff and Kristy Wieser were victorious over Eden Hawes and Ashley McGinn 21-16, 14-21, 15-12.

The combo of Hannah Rogers and Avery Arellano defeated Kate Novack and Amie Held 18-21, 21-18, 15-11. However, the Panthers ended up edging the Frogs in the battle with a narrow 3-2 decision.

The Horned Frogs will end the invitational Saturday when they face host No. 18 Florida Atlantic at 8:50 a.m. and Tulane at 1:50 p.m.
