Equestrian takes second in Big 12 Championship

Fifth-ranked TCU equestrian took second place in the Big 12 Championship after beating Baylor 12-8 Saturday morning at Turning Point Ranch.

TCU finished behind Oklahoma State after the Cowgirls clinched the title with a win over Baylor Saturday afternoon.

The Horned Frogs started the meet against Baylor with a 7-3 lead at the half Friday evening.

All Frogs earned their points in Horsemanship, taking a 4-1 lead. On the Flat, seniors Carley Barnett, Jayme Omand and Mady Fithian earned their three points, with Fithian earning her decision against the Bears’ Madison Day by a 22-point margin.

TCU extended their lead in Fences Saturday with four Horned Frogs earning their points. First-year Raegan Rast went 152-132 against Gabby Conte from Baylor.

Sophomore Claire Dittrich earned the Frogs lone point in Reining after a re-ride.

The Frogs will now prepare for the NCEA Championship beginning April 18.
