TCU Hockey wins the
TCHC Championship

The TCU club hockey team delivered on a promise they made before the first game of the season: to bring a championship trophy home to Fort Worth.
"It is huge for the team," said TCU's Luke German, who scored the overtime winning goal in the semifinals. "Winning that trophy solidifies a bond with this group that will never be broken. "
TCU started out the game against Texas A&M with a quick goal in the first period, answered swiftly by their opponents. From then on, the game was a dogfight, with the teams going back and forth in a high-scoring affair.
The Horned Frogs were close to sealing their first championship win going into the 3rd period up 6-4. A&M rallied however, and through strong offensive play closed the lead late to only 6-5.
With 2 minutes left in the 3rd period, A&M delivered a dagger to tie the game up and send it into overtime.

"When they scored to tie up the game with 2 minutes left, I honestly was pretty nervous," TCU goalie Bradin Haynie said.
After an intermission rally by senior captain Aiden Casey, the teams entered OT and momentum shifted in favor of TCU.
After dominant offensive possession in the the overtime period, James Clarke found the back of the net with a mid-range wrist-shot, solidifying the team as champions.
At the beginning of the season German and other players teased the idea of hoisting the trophy.
“We're going for that championship after falling short last year,” said German before the season had even started.
The team delivered, despite a close 10-8 during regular season winning 3 straight playoff games in overtime.
"It felt amazing to win the league and lift the trophy after talking about it all season, it’s really the reason we put in the work and play the game. All of the effort paid off," German said. "Losing in the finals last year and then coming back to win just shows how resilient and determined this group of guys were."
TCU hockey now looks forward to traveling to Colorado to compete after clinching a spot in the ACHA West Regional Tournament. The team plays their first game against Arizona State University on Feb. 20.
