How a Christian women’s organization establishes a sisterhood rooted in faith on campus

Nearly 10 years after its introduction to campus, Delight Ministries continues to foster a meaningful experience for young Christian women interested in deepening their faith and finding community at TCU.

According to its website, Delight’s mission is to invite college-aged women into a Christ-centered community that fosters vulnerability and transforms stories.

Delight is an interdenominational ministry, meaning that it is not affiliated with one Christian denomination but instead focuses on core biblical teachings and invites every woman interested to join.

The organization was brought to TCU in January 2016 by Brooke Ingram, a communication studies major and 2017 graduate who wanted to create a community for women who wanted to share their passions about the Christian faith.

Since its introduction, Delight has remained a tight-knit group of 20 active members, according to Becca Dieffenbach, a senior supply chain management major and team director of Delight at TCU.

Despite being a small ministry, the intimate and vulnerable community Delight fosters has profoundly impacted its members, said Dieffenbach.

“If I hadn’t walked into the first meeting my freshman year, I may not have stayed at TCU,” Dieffenbach said. “There were weeks when I came to a meeting completely broken, and I was given a space to vent, cry and receive prayer completely free of judgment.”

To its members, Delight is more than a weekly Bible study — it’s a community centered around a shared Christian faith that makes coming to school worthwhile, said Halle Thrower, a senior communication studies major and book coordinator for Delight at TCU.

Delight adheres to a semester-long curriculum that structures the content of its weekly meetings, which consist of a Bible study, a worship session and a small group discussion, said Dieffenbach. The small group discussions invite members to be vulnerable, share their stories and challenge each other to dig deeper into their faith.

The TCU chapter is one of over 200 chapters of Delight Ministries.

Delight at TCU meets at 7 p.m. every Monday in the Zeidman Room on the third floor of the Brown-Lupton University Union.
