As the TCU Showgirls wrap up their current season, the team is looking forward to tryouts and what’s to come.
From cheering on the frogs to traveling to multiple stadiums, the team of 25 is wrapping up another season filled with energy, pride and sisterhood.
With new auditions just around the corner, the team has been reflecting on the special moments that were had this past year.
From traditions to new memories, the team has grown both individually and together.
The audition process as a showgirl has evolved each year, changing more as the team gained a new coaching staff this past year.
Senior captain and biology major Tatum Hall said, “The coaches this year have really emphasized finding not only great dancers but also good-natured women. The interview process this year is more extensive, asking multiple personal questions rather than just one.”
This time is often a nerve-wracking, but exciting time for the team, and clinics help each incoming member feel more prepared with the whole process.
“There are actually quite a few things that are different this year with tryouts,” said sophomore communication major and current showgirl Madyson Grobe. “I would say it’s a little more intense this year, but I think it is super cool that they will really be able to see each candidate’s personalities!”
With four rounds and an interview process, the coaches are able to get a closer look at the upcoming team.
One major highlight this season was being able to cheer on TCU women’s basketball as well as their incoming postseason run.

“There are six showgirls who were able to cheer on the Women’s Basketball team in Alabama,” Hall said. “They have been representing the team well by dancing and cheering their hearts out and interacting with the Frog fans.”
While some of the team traveled with the basketball team, other members were cheering on their teammates from a screen and communicating their support.
The showgirls remained courtside for many of the team’s big successes, helping the crowd stay pumped and bring extra spirit.
Sophomore communications major and member Marina Kimzey said, “The women’s basketball team’s incredible season has brought an entirely new level of excitement to our performances.”
“Their success has given us even more opportunities to represent TCU on a bigger stage, with larger crowds and unforgettable moments,” Kimzey said.
Traveling is always a big part of the showgirl experience as it allows them to bond with teammates and perform in new places while also representing TCU on the road.
“My most memorable experience this year was probably traveling to Kansas City with our womens basketball team and cheering them on while they won the Big 12 Tournament,” Grobe said. “It was all around such a fun trip.”
As the team looks ahead to a new season, anticipation is building for what’s next.
“I’m most excited about the opportunity to continue growing as a dancer and teammate while embracing new challenges,” Kimzey said.
Beyond the dancing and TCU gamedays, being a showgirl means you are also part of a home away from home.
“I love the feeling of being on a football field or basketball court,” Grobe said. “But I would say my most favorite part of showgirls is the sisterhood that we have.”

Every showgirl has moments that stick out to them, whether it is a performance, a win, or a moment with one another, and this year there have been many of them.
“The most memorable moment for me this year was performing pregame for the first time as the 2024-2025 team,” Hall said. “Being the head captain of the TCU Showgirls, I had a newfound appreciation for how special it is to perform with 24 other talented individuals.”
Being on a team means also having a leader, and that role has helped the team through busy schedules and performances throughout the season.
“Remembering why we love to dance and leaning on each other for support and guidance is incredibly important to continue to finish the season strong while also preparing for a new season,” Hall said.
With another season in the books, the Showgirls continue to represent TCU with pride, passion and a whole lot of TCU spirit.
