TCU survived a late Utah push to get an 8-6 win in extra innings in the regular season finale.
The Frogs were winning 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Utah scored three runs to cut the TCU lead down to one.
Mason Brassfield got the start for TCU and went 6.2 Innings, giving up four runs and six hits while adding six strikeouts. Brassfield had a quality start, only allowing one run through six innings.
Louis Rodriguez had another great outing from the bullpen against the Utes, getting one strikeout to end the seventh inning with runners on first and third to keep TCU up one. Rodriguez pitched two innings with two strikeouts and gave up one run.
Nate Stern won by throwing two shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out four.
TCU was firing on all cylinders at the plate as they tallied 15 hits and added 11 baserunners through walks.
Freshman Noah Franco hit a two-run home run to give the Frogs an early 2-0 lead. The home run was Franco’s 10th home run of the season.
Isaac Cadena got the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded walk, which was followed by a Jack Bell sacrifice fly to give TCU a two-run lead in the 11th inning.
With the win, TCU will be the third seed in the Big 12 tournament, giving them a bye in the first round.
