ONLINE EXCLUSIVE! – Athletic marketing to display classic car models before football game

Classic automobiles will be on display in Frog Alley as part of pregame festivities Saturday against the Colorado State Rams, according to athletic marketing.”This simply is a fanfare event that definitely draws a crowd, and it’s a great occasion that livens up Frog Alley,” said Kelly Imig, assistant director of athletic marketing.

The second annual show is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Since it was such a success last year, we thought it would be a good thing to bring back,” Imig said. “Eventually we want to make this a greater tradition and add an entry fee, trophies and prizes.”

The show will feature a 1929 Model A Ford Business Coupe, a 1936 Chrysler C10 Imperial Airflow Sedan, a 1963 Studebaker Daytona Wagonaire and many other models.

Brian Allen, director of development for the School of Business, said the event will give people an opportunity to see the evolution of cars over time.

“A lot of people have never seen cars that were produced before they were born, so this will be a neat show for all to experience,” Allen said.

In addition, the show will offer a historical and an educational aspect, said Chandler Smith, associate director of alumni relations.

“This show is beneficial in regards to those who sometimes forget the significant design that processes over the years,” he said.

Automobiles are objects that reflect the past, Smith said, and will be presented in a way for many people to learn from.

“These automobiles are mobile museums, and are an ecstatic exhibit that can be seen first hand,” Smith said. “It’s a pleasure to share information about the automobiles and answer questions to these fascinating means of transportation.
