Two Frogs offered contracts with NFL teams as lockout ends

The wait may be over for two former Horned Frogs as the lockout ends and free-agents can finally sign contracts.

Center Jake Kirkpatrick, the anchor behind one of the best offensive lines in the country, signed with the Indianapolis Colts, according to multiple sources.

Kirkpatrick initially came to TCU as a two-star recruit, according to Rivals.com. He left as one of the most decorated lineman in university history. Kirkpatrick was the recipient of the 2010 Rimington Trophy, which is given to the best center in college football, according to gofrogs.com.

Jake’s spouse Callie wrote on her Facebook thanking everyone for their support.

“[I’m] the proud wife of an Indianapolis Colt! We have been blessed with wonderful family and friends that have supported us from day one! We love every single one of you!” she wrote.

On the other side of the ball, defensive end Wayne Daniels was offered a contract with the New York Jets. Daniels led the Frogs in sacks with 6.5 in 2010, and was named a first-team All American by the Football Writers Association of America and Phil Steele Publications, according to gofrogs.com. He will be the fourth Frog on the Jets roster with LaDanian Tomlinson, Drew Coleman, and Jeremy Kerley.

Both Kirkpatrick and Daniels were not taken in the 2011 NFL Draft. Players who were undrafted were not allowed to sign with a team because of the NFL Lockout. After the lockout ended officially on Monday, teams were allowed to contact undrafted players.
