The TCU women’s soccer team used a Katie Taylor, second-half goal to get past Air Force 2-1 Friday night in front of a record crowd of 2,803 fans at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium.

Taylor’s goal, a strike to the top right section of the net, came off a free kick in the 72nd minute and broke a 1-1 tie with the Falcons. The goal was the senior’s first goal of the season.

The win improved to the Frogs record to 7-7 on the season and gave them their first Mountain West win, improving their conference record to 1-2. The loss dropped Air Force to 6-6 on the year and 1-1 in conference action.

Sophomore Brook Kviz got TCU on the board first with a first half goal in the 27th  minute. Kviz’ strike was her fourth goal of the year and was assisted by senior Jordan Calhoun.

TCU Head Coach Dan Abdalla said Friday night’s win was reflective of how the Frogs’ have been playing lately. Finally seeing some results was a good thing for his team, Abdalla said.

“The part for us is we’ve been playing well,” Abdalla said. “So, to get the first (conference) win and see some tangible results for how we’ve been playing…I was happy. It gives us some momentum to keep going so now we just need to refocus and get ready for Sunday.”

Abdalla said the crowd played a huge role in TCU’s victory.

“If you can’t get excited being in this type of an atmosphere, the packed house, the great weather, the national TV lights, then there’s not much that’s going to get you excited,” Abdalla said. “We appreciate the community supporting us the way they are and that’s what gives us the little bit of an edge to get up and fight back.”

TCU will be back in action Sunday when they host Wyoming (8-5-2). First kick is scheduled for 1 p.m.
