TCU’s football kicker Ross Evans turned himself in Monday morning on a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing of a habitation, Denton Police Department public information officer, Ryan Grelle said.
A warrant for his arrest was issued after a report for criminal trespassing was made against him, Grelle said. According to police reports, Evans knocked down a door at an apartment complex Nov. 8. Evans turned himself into the Denton Police Department between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Monday.
If found guilty, Evans could face up to a year in jail or up to a $4,000 fine, or both, Grelle said.
Criminal trespassing is considered a Class A misdemeanor. A court date had not been set as of Monday.
"We are aware of the situation and still gathering information," said TCU Director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte in an e-mail through TCU Director of Athletics Media Relation Mark Cohen.
Cohen did not respond to questions about the incident or if Evans would receive disciplinary actions.
“What will happen is his case will be presented to the district attorney’s office. It will probably go over next week,” Grelle said.
Police Report
Below is a police report e-mailed to TCU 360 from Officer Grelle:
On 11-8-11 at 0219 hours, I was dispatched to 2700 Colorado St #1934 in reference to a burglary of a habitation. Dispatch advised that the caller, Jared Acton W/M (7-7-89), stated that a man had kicked in his door and was looking for one of his roommates.
Upon arrival I contacted Jared whom advised that a W/M had kicked in the door to the apartment while he was playing video games in his bedroom. Jared stated that at first he didn'trealize that the W/M had kicked in the door. Jared said that the W/M came into this room asking where William Horn was. Jared knew him only as a roommate and told the W/M that he didn't know William that well and didn't know where he was. The W/M questioned Jared's honesty and told Jared to tell him where William was. Jared stated that he didn't know but that he lived in the apartment across the way from his inside the same apartment. The W/M walked over to William's door and kicked it multiple times at which the point Williams door gave way and the W/M walked in.
After the W/M realized that Jared was telling the truth he told Jared that when William arrived home he was to tell Jared that "Ross" had been there looking for his money and that William needed to call "Ross". Ross then left through the front door that he had kicked in and Jared called the PD to file a report. I asked Jared if he believed that "Ross" was planning on hurting William at which point he said definitely. Jared advised that "Ross" didn't come out of Williams's room with anything and that he left in an unknown direction. Jared didn't know if "Ross" had driven there or lived in the complex. Jared advised that he had never seen "Ross" before but that he knew William to be a drug user from his own admittance.
