Baseball to face Cal State Fullerton

The No. 15 TCU baseball team will take the field at Goodwin Field this weekend against Cal State Fullerton.

TCU enters the three-game series with a 1-2 record after splitting its opening series against Ole Miss and a midweek loss to Baylor.

The Frogs lost 7-1 against the Bears in Waco Tuesday night, managing just two hits.

Head coach Jim Schlossnagle said although the team was disappointed by the loss to Baylor, they were excited to play again.

Redshirt junior infielder Davy Wright said the upcoming series would show what kind of team the Frogs are.

“It’s going to be a true test to the kind of team we are, how we come out Friday night after the loss to Baylor,” he said. “I think we’ll set the tone there.”

Wright said TCU matches up well with Fullerton and that the two teams play a similar style of baseball.

Cal State Fullerton enters the series with a 1-2 record after losing two out of three games against Florida. This is the fifth year in a row Fullerton has played TCU.

Schlossnagle said Fullerton was a great program and a great way for the Frogs to measure themselves.

“We like playing a tough schedule, we like playing good teams and we feel like it prepares you better for the postseason,” Schlossnagle said.

Sophomore pitcher Stefan Crichton said he was really excited to play against Fullerton and that they would be a good challenge for TCU.

“I actually didn’t get to pitch against them last year, so I’m really excited to be up this year,” he said. “They always have a very competitive team.”

TCU lost two in a three-game series against Cal State Fullerton last year. The Frogs are 6-6 in the past four years against Fullerton.
