    Greek This Week: Sept. 24-28

    Here are some TCU Greek events on campus this week.

    Week-long events:

    This week is National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW). Sorority and Fraternity Life, Student Development Services, the Alcohol and Drug Education Center and Order of Omega are hosting events every day to raise hazing prevention awareness, among other topics. There will be a table outside of Market Square each day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where students can sign an anti-hazing banner and receive a free t-shirt.

    The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are hosting their annual Ivy Week, Chelsea Rowel, senior food management major and president of Alpha Kappa Alpha said. The theme this year is "More Than Pretty," and is intended to help students celebrate their individuality and not feel confined by societal stereotypes and expectations. 

    Monday, Sept. 24:

    NHPW- A half-hour excerpt of the movie "Haze" will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Brown-Lupton University Union ballroom, sections A and B. There will be an open discussion following the showing. 

    Alpha Kappa Alpha- "Pumps for Power," a business forum for women, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Miller room on the third floor of the BLUU. Students will receive tips from a panel of business women on how to maintain power in the business world. Gently-used business pumps will be collected to donate to the Battered Women's Foundation, a local non-profit. 

    Tuesday, Sept. 25:

    NHPW- A case study and panel discussion will be held in the BLUU Auditorium at 7 p.m. The panel of professionals will be discussing their work with hazing, as well as means of prevention, alternatives to hazing and the potential consequences. 

    Alpha Kappa Alpha- The "More Than Poised" tea and cookie social will be at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the BLUU in the Beck and Geren conference rooms. Participants will receive etiquette tips, socialize with other university women and network. Gently-used business clothes will be collected to donate to the Battered Women's Foundation.

    Wednesday, Sept. 26:

    NHPW- Training for Step Up, a new initiative on campus that focuses on getting students and staff to step up and help if they see something bad happening, will be on the third floor of the BLUU in the Zeidman room.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha- The "More than Hope" luau will take place on the outdoor patio of the University Recreation Center at 7 p.m. This is an opportunity for students to socialize as Alpha Kappa Alpha raises voter awareness by handing out voter registration cards. Canned goods will be accepted to donate to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

    Thursday, Sept. 27:

    NPHW- There will be an Anti-Hazing Hero Panel webinar at 1 p.m. in the Chambers on the third floor of the BLUU. 

    Alpha Kappa Alpha- A "More Than Trust" dating game will be played at 8 p.m. in the Chambers on the third floor of the BLUU. This will be a relationship forum for students to compare and contrast healthy and unhealthy relationships. There will be a chance for couples to play the "Newlywed Game" to see how well they know each other. Canned goods will be accepted as donations to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.

    Friday, Sept. 28:

    NPHW- The Market Square tabling event ends at 2 p.m.

    Alpha Kappa Alpha- The "More Than Phit" Olympics will be held on the Campus Commons at 4 p.m. Groups from six different greek organizations will compete in various games to win a prize. Proceeds from team registrations will be donated to the American Heart Association.
