Basketball tip-off dinner features spirited team, fans

First year TCU basketball head coach Trent Johnson and the 2012 men's basketball team energized Horned Frog basketball fans for the new season at their Season Tip-Off dinner Sunday in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Johnson spoke to the crowd before the Horned Frogs were introduced for the first time to TCU fans. Fans had a chance to sit courtside, meet the players and watch a special practice session.

The team ran through inbounding plays and conducted shooting drills. Senior forward Connell Crossland won the slam dunk contest held among a few members of the team.

A few students were also given a chance to win $1,000 if they could make a pressure free throw. Senior Megan Affrica made the shot on her third attempt and won the cash prize after trading misses with junior Olivia Caridi.

The 2012 season tips off Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. as the Horned Frogs welcome the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) Mustangs to the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
