Paschal will look to spoil Arlington Lamar’s playoffs hopes on in the Panthers’ final game of 2012 on Thursday.

The Vikings are 4-5 with a 3-3 record in district play, which puts them in a tie with fourth-place North Crowley. The top four teams in the district advance to the playoffs.

Being a spoiler will be motivation for the Panthers, Paschal head coach Matt Cook said.

Cook said another motivation will be trying to win for the senior players in their last game. Wide receiver Ben Noel, cornerback Armando Gomez, and wide receiver Alfredo Retana are some of the seniors for Paschal.

Retana will be playing in his second game of the season Thursday. He missed the first eight games with a shoulder injury.

Retana refused to quit, Cook said.

Junior Gibson Duwe and sophomore William Floyd will split time at quarterback, Cook said. Duwe played all but one snap last week against North Crowley.
Lamar won both previous meetings with Paschal.

After last week’s loss to North Crowley, Paschal has lost two consecutive district games.

Kickoff for the season finale will be at 7 p.m. at Cravens Field in Arlington on Thursday.
