As Oklahoma’s 3-point attempt clanked off the rim at the final buzzer, TCU could finally celebrate its 70-67 win over Oklahoma.

The Frogs let a 22-point halftime lead melt to one point when Oklahoma forward Romero Osby dunked the ball to make it a one point game with 4:27 remaining. But TCU guard Charles Hill Jr. drove into the lane on the next possession and found Garlon Green waiting behind the 3-point line.

Green drained the 3-pointer to end a 16-0 run by Oklahoma and give TCU a 62-58 lead. The 3-pointer was the first bucket for the Frogs in over seven minutes. Green also threw down a dunk with 18 seconds left to extend the lead to five.

“It’s senior night. You’ll remember this whether you do good or bad for the rest of your life,” the senior forward said. “So I think we all just had the feeling that we just want to win, just want to play hard.”

TCU (11-20 overall, 2-16 Big 12) had four players in double digits led by Green (18) and Hill (13). Senior forward Connell Crossland also had 13 and sophomore guard Kyan Anderson added 11. Osby led all scorers with 19 points. Andrew Fitzgerald pitched in 13 for the Sooners.

Senior Adrick McKinney finished with four points and two rebounds while senior Nate Butler Lind had five points and six rebounds.

“[The seniors] were locked in,” head coach Trent Johnson said. “They were ready to play.”

Oklahoma (20-10, 11-7) rallied from 25 down to cut the lead to three with 27 seconds left.
The Sooners capitalized on a five second violation against TCU to make it a one point game with eight seconds left.

Anderson was fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and sealed the win on a pair of free throws.

“We just played for each other tonight,” Green said.

TCU shot 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the field in the first half including 5-of-7 from the 3-point line. They also had 14 assists.

Johnson called the Frogs’ offensive performance in the first half their best all year.

“It’s amazing because it’s not anything we don’t talk about, we don’t practice,” Johnson said. “We harp on execution all the time.”

The Frogs finished shooting 54 percent from the floor and hit 8-of-14 from the 3-point line. The Sooners shot 36.4 percent (24-of-66) for the game and missed every 3-pointer they put up.

“That’s a really good team,” Johnson said. “0-for-16 from the three, that shocks me. That really shocks me.”

TCU finished its inaugural Big 12 season as the tenth seed. The Frogs will face the seventh seeded Texas Longhorns in the first round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City Wednesday.
